Red Circle Project

The Red Circle Project mobilizes a vibrant core group of Native American/Alaskan Native Two-Spirit men through support group counseling sessions, e-mail and phone trees, community based outreach and publicity. Participants work to develop educational materials about the lives of gay Natives, to counter social isolation and facilitate outreach to additional members of the community.

Participants are recruited at trainings, PowWows, social events, retreats, and substance abuse treatment groups. Red Circle Project social gatherings have included movie nights at community members’ homes, group outings, gay social events such as Christopher Street West and small gatherings for meals and conversation.
