AIDS PROJECT LOS ANGELES ANNOUNCES BOARD LEADERSHIP FOR 2004 - 2005

Los Angeles, CA, November 2, 2004 – The Board of Directors of AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) today announced the election of James M. Murphy and Randall T. Rotondo as Chairs of the Board for 2004 - 2005.

Murphy, who is Vice President of Finance for Clear Channel Broadcasting, Inc. - Los Angeles Radio, oversees the financial operations of more than 20 radio stations in the Southern California region. The region he manages employs more than 1,000 Southern Californians, in Los Angeles (including stations: KIIS FM, KFI AM, KYSR FM, KOST FM, KBIG FM, KHHT FM, KLAC AM & KXTA/XETRA AM), and at nearly 20 other stations in Riverside, Santa Barbara and the Antelope Valley. Murphy is also responsible for execution of more than 250 Clear Channel events annually, including KIIS FM's Wango Tango and the Radio Music Awards TV Show.

Rotondo is Managing Director, Worldwide Human Resources and International Labor Relations, for United Airlines. Named to the position in 2002, he has responsibility for Human Resources and International Labor practices and policies for United’s 60,000 employees around the globe. He is based at the company’s world headquarters in suburban Chicago.

“The Board has elected two strong leaders in Jim Murphy and Randy Rotondo,” said APLA Executive Director Craig E. Thompson. “They are both skilled managers who bring tremendous experience and vision to their service on the APLA Board. We are confident that APLA will benefit from their talents as the new Chairs of the Board.”

Elected to APLA’s Board of Directors in October of 2001, Murphy most recently served two one-year terms as Board Treasurer. Murphy is a member of the Executive Board for The Trevor Project, a non-profit established to promote tolerance for gay and questioning teenagers and to aid in suicide prevention among that group, and also serves on the Board of HIV/AIDS Legal Services Alliance, Inc. (HALSA). A graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, Murphy currently resides in West Hollywood.

A native of Pueblo, Colo., Rotondo holds a degree in International Business from the St. George University of Tokyo, Japan, and is a graduate of the University of Michigan’s Human Resource Executive Program. He holds a State of Colorado Peace Officer Certification and served as a sworn law enforcement officer with the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Department. He is also a graduate of the United States National Fire Academy in Washington, D.C. Elected to the APLA Board of Directors in October of 2002, Rotondo resides in Chicago, Ill., and in Orange County, Calif.
