27,000 TURN OUT AND RAISE $3.1 MILLION AT AIDS WALK LOS ANGELES

PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT AIDS PROJECT LOS ANGELES AND OTHER AIDS SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS LA COUNTY

Los Angeles -- More than 27,000 walkers and event supporters raised over $3.1 million at AIDS WALK LOS ANGELES, Sunday, October 15, 2000. Proceeds will help fund services at AIDS PROJECT LOS ANGELES and other AIDS service organizations across LA County. Gillian Anderson, Garcelle Beauvais, Jamie Lee Curtis, Joely Fisher, Tricia Fisher, Lisa Fox, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Mayor Riordan, Ryan Seacrest, John Spencer and Connie Stevens participated in the festivities. Tony Award winning Diva, Lillias White, performed "You'll Never Walk Alone."

AIDS Project Los Angeles provides direct services to more than 8,000 men, women and children living with HIV and AIDS in Los Angeles County. APLA also provides treatment and prevention education and advocacy on local, state and federal AIDS-related legislation.

Other benefiting organizations include: AIDS Action Council, Washington, D.C.; AIDS Service Center, Pasadena; African American AIDS Support Survival Institute, Inglewood; AltaMed Health Services, Los Angeles; Being Alive-Long Beach; Bienestar Human Services, Inc., Los Angeles/San Bernardino; Catalyst Foundation for AIDS Awareness and Care, Lancaster; California HIV Advocacy Coalition,/Southern California Region; Common Ground, Santa Monica, Charles R. Drew University HIV Programs, Los Angeles; Foothill AIDS Project, Claremont, Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Greater Long Beach; HIV/AIDS Legal Services Alliance, Los Angeles; Minority AIDS Project, Los Angeles; Watts Health Foundation and Whittier Rio Hondo AIDS Project.
