THE METABOLIC COMPLICATIONS OF HIV/AIDS -
A SPANISH-LANGUAGE PRESENTATION
MAY 30 AT AIDS PROJECT LOS ANGELES
Los Angeles -- AIDS Project Los Angeles' Health Education and Advocacy Department will host a Spanish-language presentation of "Metabolic Complications of HIV/AIDS: Lipodystrophy, Insulin Resistance, etc.", on Tuesday, May 30 from 6:30 to 9:00 PM at APLA, 1313 N. Vine Street in Hollywood. The event, free and open to the public, includes dinner and a reception beginning at 6:30 PM. Childcare will be provided. To RSVP, call 323.993.1612.
Presenters for the evening include Mitchell Kushner, MD, HIV Specialist - AIDS Healthcare Foundation and Octavio Vallejo, MD, MPH, of UCLA. The discussion will include potential problems with protease inhibitors, lipodystrophy, and lactic acidosis. This event is made possible by a generous unrestricted grant from Agouron Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
AIDS Project Los Angeles, a non-profit community-based organization, provides direct services to more than 8,000 women and children living with HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles County. Services include a food bank, professional dental care, housing assistance, child care, transportation, mental health counseling, case management, home health care and Adult and Child Buddy support. APLA also provides extensive treatment and prevention education and advocacy on local, state and federal AIDS-related legislation.
