AIDS PROJECT LOS ANGELES ANNOUNCES
HIV MATTERS: UPDATE FROM THE 7TH CONFERENCE ON RETROVIRUSES AND OPPORTUNISTIC INFECTIONS
ON FEBRUARY 17, 2000

Los Angeles -- AIDS Project Los Angeles’ (APLA) Education Division, in collaboration with Being Alive, L.A. Shanti and AIDS Healthcare Foundation is hosting "HIV Matters: A Monthly Medical Update -- An Update from the 7th Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections." The free forum open to the general public is on Thursday, February 17, 2000 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at APLA, 1313 N. Vine Street, Hollywood. There will be a reception with food and beverages from 6:30 - 7:00 p.m. Limited free parking in the APLA parking lot off Fountain Avenue is available. To reserve space, please call (323) 993-1612.

Scheduled to present are: Mark Katz, MD, Kaiser Permanente; Ardis Moe, MD, UCLA CARE Center; and Charles Farthing, MD, AIDS Healthcare Foundation.

"The ‘HIV Matters’ series presents not only the cutting edge in HIV/AIDS treatment information, but also is a model of collaboration between AIDS service organizations," said Lee Klosinski, APLA’s Director of Education. "Our agencies are working together to provide the community with educational forums featuring the most up-to-date information, the most knowledgeable speakers and the most relevant topics facing those living with HIV/AIDS."

This forum was made possible by generous unrestricted grants from Roxane Laboratories and Dupont Pharma.

AIDS Project Los Angeles, a non-profit community-based organization, provides direct services to more than 8,000 men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles County. Services include a food bank, professional dental care, housing assistance, child care, transportation, mental health counseling, case management, home health care and Adult and Child Buddy support. APLA also provides extensive treatment and prevention education and advocacy on local, state and federal AIDS-related legislation.
