Leadership Council Spotlight
Jim Koenig

Jim Koenig has been a supporter of APLA since moving to Los Angeles nearly 20 years ago. He is employed by the world’s largest sourcing advisory company and travels extensively for work, where he has been involved in various technical and consulting roles for over 30 years.
A member of the Leadership Council since it was launched two years ago, Jim feels very strongly about APLA’s mission and the services that the agency offers in Los Angeles.
When he first moved to Los Angeles, he says, he looked for a local organization with a mission focused on HIV/AIDS, believing that the disease was not likely to attract significant mainstream support at that time. In APLA, Jim says, he found an organization well aligned with his objectives.
He believes APLA’s local focus, along with its increasing connection to global HIV/AIDS issues, are key in attracting support and visibility at all levels.
“We need to continue to focus on education and prevention,” Jim says. “There is a new generation that has grown up in a world with better drugs and awareness that have reduced the infection rate.”
In addition, Jim says, “we need to continue to focus on reducing the spread of the disease in areas of the world hardest hit. We need to provide funding for education, protection, and treatment to reverse the trend in these areas of the world.”
Jim says that the Leadership Council has allowed him to develop a closer and more active relationship with APLA, and he looks forward to continuing his involvement. We are grateful to Jim for his ongoing commitment to APLA and our Leadership Council.
