Thursday, June 27 is National HIV Testing Day. The day was established as a national observance to promote HIV testing, and it is the perfect time for YOU to get involved! Take the test, take control, and join us at one of the APLA Health & Wellness Center events below. The APLA Health & Wellness Center is located at 3743 South La Brea Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90016.
Thursday, June 27: Regular testing hours at The David Geffen Center and at the APLA Health & Wellness Center.
On June 27 and June 28, APLA will be testing at two local Walgreens stores as part of the Greater Than AIDS campaign.
Friday, June 28: Fourth Fridayz, a youth focused testing event, will occur from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This event will include outreach by members of Mpowerment at APLA, an HIV prevention program for young gay, bisexual, and questioning men of color. Staff members will be at the corner of Coliseum / La Brea in South Los Angeles with a “honk if you want condoms” sign, bringing people into the event which will include a DJ, condom distribution, light refreshments, and of course, free HIV testing and STD screening.
Saturday, June 29: “Our Community, Our Responsibility” will be held at the APLA Health & Wellness Center from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The event will include outreach activities, a DJ, an HIV/STD fact room, HIV/STD 101 sessions, light refreshments, and of course free HIV testing and STD screening/treatment.
