Case Management Services Intern
DIVISION: Client Services
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Case Management Services offers a range of services including Registration, Assessment, Service Planning, Referrals, Transportation and Deaf Services.
APLA's Clientline Interns provides telephone case management to clients in need of assistance who do not have multiple or complex service needs. Clientline Interns are staff-trained and supervised. The Interns answer questions and provide information about accessing services at APLA and throughout Los Angeles County.
The candidate must be able to work with a variety of populations in a fast-paced environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
Intern candidates must be willing to commit to 3 to 6 months.
The candidate should be able to weekdays between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong PC, MS Office, and Internet skills. Willingness to work 20 hours per week minimum for 3-6 months.

DIVISION: Client Services
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Greene/LeBaron Dental Treatment Center offers
preventive, emergency, and restorative dental treatment
to HIV Symptomatic / AIDS diagnosed clients. Under
direction of the Office Manager, the intern will
work with contracted dentists on a variety of levels.
REQUIREMENTS:

Mental Health Intern
DEPARTMENT: Client Services/Mental health
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Mental Health Interns will work directly with the Intern Supervisor on a broad range of outpatient mental health services to people who are living with HIV disease utilizing a biopsychosocial model of intervention. Possible services include: Crisis Intervention, Psychosocial Assessment, Neuropsychiaric Testing, Individual/Couple/Family Therapy and Support Groups.

Shared Action Intern
Intern Job description
Position Purpose:
To learn and develop skills in behavioral
intervention models applied to HIV prevention: adopting, adapting,
implementing, evaluating programs. In
addition to research and evaluation as it applies to HIV/AIDS services,
policy, health education, and health promotion. The Internship
is to provide assistance to Shared Action (capacity building
assistance program) in enhancing community based organizations and
health departments’ technical capacity to implement and sustain
effective HIV behavioral interventions in the Western region of USA. Interns
may perform some of the following duties depending upon the intern’s
interest and program needs: conducting needs assessments, providing
technical assistance, assisting trainers, conducting formative research
on HIV behavioral interventions, enter and manage data, write evaluation
reports, and provide other Shared Action support as needed.
Requirements:
Background in Public Health, Public
Policy, Psychology, Sociology, or related field is preferred. Must possess willingness to learn
research/evaluation and consulting skills necessary for applied social,
behavioral and public policy arena. Intern must also have interest
in addressing HIV/AIDS prevention issues for Latinos. Must possess
skills in using Microsoft Word/Excel. Must commit for a minimum
of 3 months, 10-12 hours a week. Required to complete Internship
Agreement form; submit scope of work; attend weekly meeting; develop
research project; and present findings to staff. Prior to
starting internship, intern must attend a New Volunteer Orientation,
scheduled through Volunteer Resources.

Special Events Intern
DIVISION: Volunteer Resources
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Special Events Intern will work with the Program Manager of Volunteer Resources to staff, deploy and oversee volunteers at APLA’s various events.
REQUIREMENTS:
Candidate must be willing to work approximately 12-16 hours per week. The intern will be asked to work our major events as they are scheduled. They must be available to work the evening / late night of the events. Also required are excellent written and verbal communication skills; Strong PC, MS Word/Excel, and Internet skills; interest in HIV/AIDS issues; and ability to work well under pressure. Background in customer service desirable. A three to six month commitment is requested.
